In its response to the informal Arria Formula meeting of the UN Security Council being held today, on 22 December in New York and convened by Russia to discuss "the situation of ethnic minorities and the glorification of Nazism in the Baltic and Black sea region", the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania states that Lithuania sees this event as yet another effort to spread a false narrative about neighboring countries for political ends and as yet another attempt by Russia to divert the attention of the international community from the deteriorating human rights situation in Russia and from the military escalation at Ukraine’s borders. Russia's repeated attempts to manipulate UN Security Council formulas for disinformation purposes have been condemned in a statement by like-minded members of the UN Security Council and European Union member states and others, to which Lithuania has joined.

The Lithuanian government is engaged in a number of initiatives on Holocaust remembrance and education, which are to be implemented within a 5-year perspective. The most significant of them include opening new museum spaces and updating existing school curricula incorporating modern teaching recommendations on the Holocaust. This is an important contribution to raising awareness and educating society not only about the Holocaust but also the ages rich history of Jews in Lithuania. It was extensively presented during the year 2020, which was officially dedicated to the Vilna Gaon and saw a significant increase of interest in Jewish life, history and heritage in Lithuania.

On 28 June, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis commented on the Belarusian regime's decision to withdraw from the EU's Eastern Partnership program. According to Lithuania’s Foreign Minister, by withdrawing from the Eastern Partnership, the regime, first of all, punishes the people of Belarus and continues to isolate itself.
